Our Community
Helping more people, Helping people more
We are here to give financial help to people who are in need, hardship or distress and who are resident in Beeston or its immediate vicinity. We work directly with individuals or through other organisations and here are the experiences of some of those we have helped
Support from Beeston Consolidated charity for Hope Nottingham and those we support has come at a vital time. In the last few years Hope has established a one stop community support centre in Beeston. This welcomes the most disadvantaged local people, helps them out of crisis with practical help with free food parcels, clothing and furniture, provides advice and health support and equips them with employment training and experience. As a result we have been able to help many local people make significant progress in not only supporting themselves but then giving back to support others.
The work at Hope House in Beeston has grown dramatically over the last 2-3 years so financial support from Beeston Consolidated has been crucial. They have supported us with ongoing funds for community support work as well as with contributions for building improvements to increase the capacity for our work. They have also worked closely with us to support individuals and families in particular need. In some cases Beeston Consolidated Charity has been the only organisation able and flexible enough to work with us to support struggling families in complex situations.
We are very grateful indeed for the ongoing support of Beeston Consolidated Charity.

Following a successful application to the Beeston Consolidated Charity Beeston Fields Primary & Nursery School was able to extend the work they do to help disadvantaged families and the comments received from the school illustrate how they were able to do this.
“With the charity’s support we have been able to extend our Family Support Workers office hours – this enables her to work with more local parents in need of extra support with all areas of parenting, accessing services or to get the additional support they need.
The charity has also allowed us to greatly reduce the cost of some of our recent educational trips. Our children attend one out of school trip each which represents a great cost to parents. With the charities support we have been able to pay for the transport costs attached to these trips reducing the cost to parents. “
“In April 2015 Beeston Community Resource CIO took over the management of Middle Street Resource Centre, Beeston, from Nottinghamshire County Council, who had decided that they would no longer operate it themselves. The Centre was for many years a mental health day centre, and BCR was established by a group of users and supporters who decided it must survive to serve the many people who rely on it for support.
Initially we could not afford to employ staff, and everything was done by our trustees and other volunteers. This was unsustainable in the longer term, and we were rescued by two three-year grants, the largest of which, by Beeston Consolidated Charity, was notified last June and since October has entirely funded the salary of Paul Walsh, our development officer, and contributed to that of our manager, Robert Ashford.
Robert and Paul together have galvanised the development of the Centre, which retains a central focus on needs arising from mental distress in all its forms, but has expanded to provide facilities and services for a wide range of community groups and activities. It is now a thriving hub of activity; but this would not have been possible without the substantial but unobtrusive support of Beeston Consolidated Charity, to whom all of us at Middle Street are profoundly grateful.“
